Everyone loves to spend time at the beach. It is a sandy oasis where people can forget their troubles and drift off to relaxation under the soft echoed ebb and flow of the lapis lazuli tide. Oftentimes, people intentionally find their home in the vicinity of a beach to accommodate their maritime desire. Just imagine actually living on a beach, waking up to seagulls’ caws and crashing waves. For some, that scenario is a daily reality since they live on the shoreline where the sand meets the brush. Check out these beautiful beach houses around the world and maybe one day you can have a luxury property of your own.
Beautiful Beach Houses to Check Out
Japanese Beach House
Situated on the coast of Shima, Japan, this modest, but modern, domicile from Yamamori Architect & Associates is nestled on a private inlet where the only disturbances, if you can even call it that, come from local fishing dinghies heading out for the day’s catch. The open sightlines from the back windows line up symmetrically with the ocean’s horizon and mimics the general sensation of floating. The home’s backdrop among the rolling green Japanese hills plays as a vibrant and lovely contrast to the shining sea they loom over.
Bungalow
Sitting above the clear blue waters of French Polynesia, the bungalows of Bora Bora serve as one of the more unique places to live in the world, let alone on a beach. These huts are suspended above the ocean water in the island’s many lagoons. Just by stepping outside the front entrance, you can look down and see a school of multi-colored minnows or a baby sand shark. You certainly won’t be able to find that anywhere else in the world. No one knows the origin of this style of homes but they’re so rare that they’ll probably be around for many generations to come.
Redgate Beach House
Perched squarely above the shore of South West Australia’s historic Redgate Beach, this luxurious villa has views spanning the entire ten acre estate as well as of the neighboring ocean. Craig Steere Architects sculpted this masterpiece with the intention of avoiding unneeded cultivation of vegetation and also to minimize all need for wasteful energy sources. Aside from its visual appeal, the home was crafted with the very best in building materials of a durable and modern quality. In 2010, this property won Australia’s top architecture award.
Portable Beach Hut
This waterfront lodge by Crosson Clarke Carnachan on New Zealand’s Coromandel Peninsula can be uprooted and planted anywhere. Most interestingly, this cabin is portable and very environmentally-friendly. Because it is located within the coast’s erosion zone, the sleds it sits on allow it to slide up, down, and across the beach. The overall aesthetic of the place reminds one of a piece of driftwood. Besides being composed entirely of sustainable materials using minimal energy input, every space of the home is utilized for everything from cabinet space to cubby holes. This property is a real treasure among all of these beautiful beach houses.
